Frequently Asked Question
In order to make a 2 axis sensor with high accuracy, we use acutally a 3 axis MEMS. Because in that way, we can use a smarter algorithm( angle x = actanX/Z, angle y = arctanY/Z) to calculate the angle to have the best linear result. So when X tilt more than 45°, the Z axis tilt in a range where arctan y/z will be very inaccurate. esp when X tilt 90°, the Z axis is not measuring gravity anymore, and the Y output (arctanY/Z will be close to 90°) will be invalid. That's why we specify in our datasheet only 1 axis is allowed to tilt more than 45° at a time. When one axis tilt >45°, the output of the other axis is not reliable anymore.
