Why is the output from my QR sensor fluctuating?

According to the sensor datasheet, the distance (air gap) between the magnet and the QR sensor must remain within the specified limits. If the air gap becomes too large, the magnetic field strength at the sensor decreases, which can cause the output signal to fluctuate significantly.

For example, if the specified maximum air gap is 3 mm and the actual distance increases to 5 mm, the sensor may no longer receive a sufficiently strong magnetic field. As a result, the output can become unstable or noisy.

If you experience a fluctuating output, please check the following:

  • Verify that the air gap between the magnet and the sensor is within the specification.
  • Ensure the magnet is correctly aligned with the sensing area.
  • Check that the magnet is the recommended type and has the correct magnetic strength.
  • Make sure the magnet is securely mounted and does not move or vibrate during operation.
